                                              What is IMPULSE?

Team 4418 has chosen the concept of “impulse” to explain what drives us.

Everything the team does is centered around student development and education.

The sum of all our work over time is the creation of competent, confident, creative students who are prepared to fully engage with engineering challenges in their academic and professional futures.

In physics, impulse is the combination of force and time, which changes the motion of an object.

With this in mind, we view the team as if it were a rocket:

  • The STEM School and Academy provides the structure of the rocket.
  • Our sponsors provide the fuel to make it go.
  • Our mentors provide the guidance to keep it heading in the right direction.
  • The student team members are the crew of the ship.
  • Their parents, friends, and classmates are the ground controllers, there to see what they achieve.
