2017 Season: Nautilus

In 2017, we competed in the FIRST STEAMWORKS competition. We were so excited for the regional and competition theme, that along with a temporary brand look change, we made our robot match the part. Made out of metal, wood and plastic, it is one of our most unique robots to date. It was also one of the fastest climbers at the Colorado Regional. On top of that, it was our most stable robot to date, suffering only one 5 second disconnect. Nautilus was a team favorite and we look forward to 2018.

2016 Season: S.T.E.R.L.I.N.G.

You know what they say, third times the charm, and it proved true for us. This year we lost 3/4ths of our original team, leaving a huge gap, which we filled nicely with a group of enthusiastic 8th, 9th, and 10th graders that work great together.

Also this year, we radically redesigned S.T.E.R.L.I.N.G. during mid season from being an omni-bot, to a pure defense robot. While most of us were skeptical at first, it payed off. Our robot stood out by being the only defense robot at the Colorado Regional. Even though we didn't do too well in the rankings for the Qualifications, we got picked for the team 7 alliance. It consisted of team 1410: Release the Kraken, and team 1138: Eagle Engineering. We made it through the Quarterfinals shaken but not stirred, and almost got to the finals of the Colorado Regional. All in all, not a bad year.

2015 Season: T.O.T.E.S.

The 2015 season saw a radical challenge, and our answer was a radical robot. In the challenge, we needed to be able to lift up boxes and recycle bins and stack them. We went with the classic forklift design to lift up to four boxes and one recycle bin. It stands at about 6 feet tall and weighs about 120 pounds. In competition, it lead us to 16th place at the Colorado Regional and 8th place out of Colorado teams.

2014 Season: M.A.N.T.I.S.

Picture
In our first year as an independent team we took part in the Aerial Assist Challenge and our answer to that challenge was M.A.N.T.I.S. Our robot has a large claw on the top that can swivel up and down to catch and throw balls to the other robots on our team. It got us 32nd place at the Colorado Regional, pretty good for a first year.
